Decided to spend a couple of days like a hermit this week. Just because. Bit tired after last chemo session. Just had a few days of being the opposite of a hermit (not sure what that is, but I’m going with socialite on the basis that it makes me sound like an It Girl). Plus, despite today being 1 March, which is absolutely officially no question about it Spring, there appears to be some sort of weather-related face-off underway just outside my front door, involving significant amounts of rain, fog, wind and general murk.
Anyway. Not being accustomed to planning downtime (and let’s face it, a couple of days without seeing anyone is likely to mean a couple of days without gift-bearing visitors, and that’s a hard thing for anyone to turn down), I approached this with some degree of caution. I need not have worried. It turns out that my friends are highly adept at providing non-face-to-face-company. I’ve hardly had time to crawl into my shell at all between reading and responding to texts; emails; phone and FaceTime calls, and more social media coverage than the average It Girl could handle. Plus I’m kind of enjoying my own company. I mean, I fancied a bit of reading, baking, general chilling out. Who knew I’d be the perfect person to hang out with for exactly those things? Just what I fancied doing, too. I’m having a lovely time. Might do it more often. Although I’m guessing once the results of my latest successful bake are displayed on social media, I may have a few people knocking on the door. I just hope they come bearing gifts.
