Following a small amount of incredibly scientific research, I have discovered the following components of a successful run:
1) sunshine
2) a thumping baseline
3) a slight disregard for one’s personal appearance
4) blister-free feet
5) a flat, seafront route
6) rush hour (multiple enforced stops to cross busy roads proving most welcome)
All of which conspired to enable me, for the first time since pre-chemo days of yore, to run 10K without any near-death experiences to speak of. Fully-functioning lungs may also have assisted. Either way, I’m pretty chuffed with that. Celebrating with coffee and cake.
