Blue Skies

Tomorrow I’m off for a team bonding experience involving zip wires and pizza. I don’t think a better combination exists. The forecast is for rain, but pizza tastes good in any weather. And a wet zip wire can only be an extra fast one. My spirits won’t be dampened.

It’s been a bit of a weird week so far. Tomorrow will be the second time in three days that I’ve been out after work. That’s a bit of a record for me recently, and when you factor in the dinner out (and the resulting difficulty in fitting in my usual daily toast-based meal), it’s pretty much unprecedented. Much of the week has involved conference calls with people half way round the world, with a significant amount of confusion arising from the fact that no one is even sure what day of the week it is on the other end of the line. Quite tricky when we’re all apparently working to the same tight deadlines. Plus there’s been the  mysterious case of the vanishing pack of pork pies (although the mysterious case of the Finance Manager with crumbs on his tie does make that particular situation rather less mysterious, after all). But still, a weird week, and it’s only Wednesday.

So I’m cautiously looking forward to tomorrow’s bonding activities. We could all do with a bit of fun. Mainly, I’m hoping the strongest bonding is to be found in the safety harnesses, the pork pies haven’t taken anyone over the weight limit for the zip wire, and that my confusion about days of the week hasn’t extended to the scheduling of tomorrow’s activities. In particular, that I’ve managed to schedule the zip wire before the pizza. For the sake of those who have opted to stand on the ground underneath and watch. Funny what some people class as the safe option.
