Well, here’s a turn up. Me. I’ve turned up again. Unexpectedly really, I’ve even surprised myself.

It’s been about 9 months since my last blog post. Which I feel bound to note, confessional style. Because there has been some weird guilt hanging over me for most of those 9 months. A sort of minor nagging feeling that there’s something I should get around to. Ok, so let’s get it out of the way. Reasons I haven’t written: I’ve definitely been busy. I’ve probably been lazy. And I’ve possibly had some weird sort of aversion to writing in my ‘cancer blog’, as if avoiding it would make me feel less like someone having cancer treatment. Ok, full disclosure, there’s definitely been a bit of that last one. I’ve been having a lot of tests recently. First set have come back clear, so looking hopeful. But the whole waiting for results again thing, along with 5 more people I know having been diagnosed in the last few months, well… let’s just say that was enough cancer-themed activity for me.

However. Alongside the avoidance bit has been the follow-on stage from the busy bit. The follow-on stage being the ‘quite a lot has happened and I’d like to write about it’ stage. And eventually, that second one has won out. Essentially, I like talking about myself, and a blog is at least a semi-acceptable way of doing so. It doesn’t all have to be about cancer – although as it turns out, even when it isn’t, it kind of is (see above). Which I guess is just the reality. Which I guess I just need to accept and get on with a bit of blogging.

So. Item 1. We’ve moved. We’ve moved out of Brighton. Along the coast a bit and right by the sea. And it’s amazing. It’s been blazingly hot for a lot of our first summer in the new house, which admittedly might have given a slightly false sense of how much living here feels as if we’re on holiday in a quaint little town on a Greek island, but it feels as if we’re on holiday in a quaint little town on a Greek island. Which is alright by me. Added to which, we’ve had a new kitchen, with a new oven, and I’ve been baking a lot of cake.
