In addition to all the people, purveyors of freebies, and other names I’ll be sure to mention in my next Oscars acceptance speech, here are a few special mentions.

All the staff at the Royal Sussex: oncologists, chemo nurses, Macmillan nurses, and everyone else – great at supporting, explaining, injecting positivity (amongst other things), administering coffee, biscuits and cancer-destroying drugs.

All the staff at the Queen Elizabeth, Birmingham. Never ideal to end up in A&E during a weekend away. However if you must end up in A&E, I can highly recommend this one. Not only did they pump me full of drugs, sort me out and send me off with a smile on my face, they also fed me chocolate fudge cake and custard. Above and beyond.
