There’s a plan, obviously. There’s always a plan. So here it is.
- If there’s a good side, find it.
Actually, that’s about it. Clearly there isn’t always a good side. But the basic plan is not to miss the good stuff where it does exist. Because most of the good stuff that was there before is still there, and it turns out that lots of good stuff is happening as a result of what might have been a Really Shit Thing.
Along with a plan, we need a few lists. You can’t beat a good list. So to help the plan along:
Daily tasks
- Freebie of the day
- Swearword of the day
- Random act of kindness (carried out by me, not for me. Though if anyone wants to offer one, I will of course graciously accept)
Healthy stuff
- Exercise
- Food (preferably accompanied by a pretty picture and Nigella-related hashtag)
- Mind (not really sure what to call this list but it mainly involves looking at pretty things, being with lovely people, and thinking about how much of the day is taken up with pretty things and lovely people)
Treats
- Places
- Products
- Presents
This is basically a list of nice things I’ve done, bought or (even better) been given, under the handy banner of ‘deserving a nice treat’. Which I feel can justifiably be applied on a pretty universal basis at present. Which, incidentally, is probably something that can be added to the list of Good Sides.
