Not in the sense of wiping slates clean or ringing any changes – but it’s always important to start off on a good note – preferably topped with a rainbow of healthy fresh fruits. Making a conscious decision to log the Good Stuff every day has certainly highlighted the amount of it that’s around – even on a day when drawing the curtains reveals the sort of dark, windy January morning that screams at you to get straight back into bed with at least 37 duvets for protection. Today, for example, resisting the temptation to do just that, I kicked off the morning with a smoothie bowl fit for Carmen Miranda’s head. Immediately, the sun came out, and a pretty good day unfolded. In brief (because it’s my life, and even I recognise that it’s not all that interesting) it involved an unidentified but nevertheless tasty freebie from the Chinese supermarket, homemade gyoza (Wagamamas may be after me for the recipe), a sunny scooter ride, a surprise visit from the niece and sister combo, and a spot of work and relaxing with cats. And I’m just about to watch a friend making his TV debut.
It would have been a shame to miss all that just because I was buried under 37 duvets. And a pile of fresh fruit certainly set me up to make the most of the day. Following it swiftly with large amounts of chocolate is of course completely fine.
