Freebies of the day aside, and quite apart from all the there-all-the-time-but-previously-went-unnoticed Good Stuff, there are when you look for them quite a number of benefits generated by chemo itself. You do have to take the time to look for them, but let’s face it, one thing you’re likely to have on chemo is time. Benefit number one.
Today, for example, I’ve benefitted from the following:
- Time saved in shower due to no hair washing or shaving
- Time saved after shower due to no hair drying / straightening / styling. Well, basically due to no hair
- Extra opportunities for messing about with the face crayons, basically like a real live Girl’s World (but with body attached) painting on various missing bits and pieces
- Countless new style combos once you factor hats / scarves / wigs into the equation (and yes, it is totally possible to wear all three at once)
- Excuses for shopping. Again countless. But for starters: make-up (see above); headwear (see above); clothes (due to weight loss / weight gain / weight unchanged but deserving a treat); food (due to importance of eating healthily / importance of cake)
- In a coming together of various points above, far fewer hairs around in general – in plug holes, food, stuck to clothes, you get the picture. Unless you have a cat of course
- Absolute licence to lie on the sofa binge watching whatever you want. Also absolute licence not to. Mainly, absolute licence, full stop
Who said side effects had to be bad?
